Resources: hippoVEND: Redirecting Customers to Your Own Website

If you have your own website promoting your Second Life business you may wish to encourage customers who use one of your vendors to visit your website. That’s easily done.

1. On the hippoVEND website open up the configuration for the vendor you wish to have promote your website.
   
   
2. Provided the vendor supports it (e.g. it is version 1.6 or higher) then the third section of the configuration page will be entitled “Website Links”.
   
   
3. Provide a website address (it must start with http or https, or Second Life will reject it) and the text you’d like to appear in the Second Life dialog box that will appear to the customer. For example:
   
   
   
   
4. Save the configuration and update the vendor inworld. The next time a customer clicks it then as well as any product information, they’ll also be asked if they want to visit the website you chose. They’ll see a dialog menu like this one ...
   
   

Always remember to save the ‘_config’ notecard, click the vendor and choose “Reset”
from the menu to reload it and apply any changes you’ve made once you’re done.
