If you want to do more complicated analysis of your sales through hippoVEND, it’s easy to export your sales data to CSV (comma-separated-value) format after which you can then easily import it into e.g. Microsoft Excel.
Example: Getting Sales Data into Microsoft Excel
The following example will walk you through this process, using Firefox 3 as the browser and Microsoft Excel 2008 for Mac as the spreadsheet.
FInd the set of sales you want to export (perhaps you want to filter your sales log so just July 2008 sales appear, for example).
Click the “Export to CSV” link in the right hand margin of the page.
A text only page will open showing these sales.
Go to Firefox’s “File” menu and choose “Save Page As ...”
Save the page somewhere you’ll remember, in text format, and with a .txt extension.
Launch Microsoft Excel and open the file you saved in step 5. Excel will launch the Text Import Wizard.
Choose Delimited and then click Next.
Tick the “Comma” checkbox then click the “Finish” button.
Voila! You now have your sales data in an Excel spreadsheet, properly arranged in columns.
Altering the Date Format in CSV Exports
It is possible to adjust the date format used in the CSV export page. To do this ...
Click the My Account link at the top of the web page ...
Click the “Time and Date” tab ...
Pick a new date format and click OK ...
Your chosen date format will now be used when exporting sales logs from hippoVEND to CSV (and also, if you use them, when exporting hippoRENT payment logs and/or hippoUPDATE logs to CSV).
