Resources: hippoVEND: Catalogue Vendor Voice Commands

Version 2 hippoVEND Catalogue Vendors make it even easier for your resellers who use them to configure the various display options (hovertext, slideshow mode etc.) on multiple vendors at once, by using voice commands.

When a catalogue vendor is touched, for the next two minutes it will listen for the following commands from its owner. (Hence by touching several catalogue vendors, the owner can issue identical commands to groups of them).

The following commands are understood ... (they can be typed in upper, lower or mixed case; e.g. Offline, OFFLINE and offline are understood the same).

Offline

Online

Notecard
Give the product information notecard (and demo item if there is one) for the current product
Update

Help

Sales IMs: Yes
Turn on the option to send an IM to the owner whenever the catalogue vendor sells something
Sales IMs: No
Turn off the option to send an IM to the owner whenever the catalogue vendor sells something
Hovertext: On
Turns product information hovertext on
Hovertext: Off
Turns product information hovertext off
Hovertext: Auto
Puts hovertext into “auto” mode ... it will show when the catalogue vendor is clicked, then disappear after a few seconds of inactivity.
Inactive: Slideshow
Tells the catalogue vendor to cycle through products in a slideshow after a minute or so of inactivity
Inactive: Show First
Tells the catalogue vendor to return to the first product after a minute or so of inactivity
Inactive: Do Nothing
Tells the catalogue vendor to do nothing when inactive
Size: <x, y, z>
If the catalogue vendor is a single prim type, then this command will adjust the size of it. Remember that by default, a single prim vendor’s depth is the x-axis. So for a 5m wide, 3m high, 0.1m deep vendor, you’d use SIZE: <0.1, 5, 3> not SIZE: <5, 3, 0.1>
Stop Listening
Tells the catalogue vendor to stop listening to your voice commands

  1. On the hippoVEND website open up the configuration for the vendor you wish to have promote your website.

  2. Provided the vendor supports it (e.g. it is version 1.6 or higher) then the third section of the configuration page will be entitled “Website Links”.

  3. Provide a website address (it must start with http or https, or Second Life will reject it) and the text you’d like to appear in the Second Life dialog box that will appear to the customer. For example:

  4. Save the configuration and update the vendor inworld. The next time a customer clicks it then as well as any product information, they’ll also be asked if they want to visit the website you chose. They’ll see a dialog menu like this one ...

Always remember to save the ‘_config’ notecard, click the vendor and choose “Reset”
from the menu to reload it and apply any changes you’ve made once you’re done.
