With hippoRENT v5, it is now possible to define a list of people who are banned from renting at a rental location. Simply follow these three steps.
Click on the (groups) icon in the left hand side bar and in the groups page, create a new group list and add some people to it. (Set their share in each case to 0 ... since this is a ban list, not a profit-sharing list). You might end up with an example like this:
Now edit the configuration for the box you wish to ban them from (only v5 or higher boxes can do this). Near the very bottom of the configuration page you’ll see a new “Ban List” section. Use the pick list you will see there to choose the group you defined in step 1.
Click OK to save the box’s configuration and then update it (e.g. by clicking it’s icon). Once the box inworld has picked up the configuration, anybody on the list who tries to rent it will get a “Can’t rent, you’ve been banned!” message.
Useful Tips
Boxes with a ban-list set check the ban list, live, whenever a new tenant tries to rent; so you don’t need to update the box’s configuration every time you add or remove somebody to/from a ban list ... only when you first add a ban-list to a box, or if you wish to remove the list entirely.
You can add the current tenant to a ban list this won’t remove them from the rental, but will prevent them renewing their tenancy by paying the box any more funds.
