We’ve added lots of new functionality to the website that drives our hippoTELL Web-Enabled Noticeboards, making it easier to update messages, copy messages from one board to another, or organize noticeboards into useful collections. There is also a minor inworld update available if you’re an existing user, taking hippoTELL to v2.1. A minor update to our popular hippoWINDOWS product is available today. Adding a few often-asked-for-features, it’s a free upgrade (as always!) for existing users. hippoGROUPS released

Hippo Technologies is proud to announce the release of a major new product in our line of business software. hippoGROUPS is a tool that allows you to construct lists and groups of people, send them messages (personalized and with inventory items if you wish), manage those lists online, allow people to signup inworld or in other ways etc. In short, it is a complete business communication solution, allowing a wide range of applications.

Especially useful is the way that hippoGROUPS integrates with our existing products. Use hippoVEND? Then subscribe to hippoGROUPS to have customers automatically added to a list whenever they buy a product, or when a reseller rezzes a vendor. Use hippoRENT? Automatically add tenants on a given set of rental boxes to a list so you can contact them en masse. The possibilities are endless.

hippoVEND v1.6 released

We’re pleased to announce that version 1.6 of hippoVEND has hit the virtual streets, packed with lots of exciting new features. Here’s just a small list of some of what’s new ...

• All vendor types (regular and catalogue) can now function as holovendors.
• All vendor types (regular and catalogue) can offer product demos and preview sounds or animations.
• You can sell limited edition (no copy) products.
• Redelivery terminals to help customers who’ve had a problem receiving a product for some reason.
• MetaCard compatibility.
• Vendors can confirm each sale with a customer to help prevent accidental purchases.
• Advanced vendor customization options (e.g. change the prim-display-face)
• Server can run an Automated Notification System (ANS).

We’re delighted to announce the release of our new hippoTELEPORT Intra-Sim teleport system. An easy way to connect together multiple places in your sim and packed with features, we think it’s one of the best teleport systems on the market. If you already own our rental system, an additional reason to buy hippoTELEPORT is that it easily connects to our rental boxes, so you can automatically have tenants and their friends granted access if you wish.

Art Gallery Open

We’re pleased to announce that the Hippo Technologies Art Gallery has opened on our main island. So when you’re next visiting the main store, take a break from shopping and use the teleport outside the entrance to come and see our latest collection of landscape photographs. hippoVISIT Update

An incremental update to our visitor notification and alert system, hippoVISIT. The update adds two new features — detectors can use sensors as well as collisions to detect customers and detectors can now be networked together to more easily cope with large stores. There are also a couple of minor bug fixes included. This update takes hippoVISIT to version 1.1 and existing users can get a free update by visiting Customer Services (upstairs at the main store) and using one of the new updater machines.

Hippo Technologies Launches hippoSECURE — a Land and Home Security System

Hippo Technologies has launched a new security system, hippoSECURE. The product packs dozens of features including white lists and black lists, circular or rectangular protection zones, the ability to work on individual or group land and a network function, allowing multiple security units to be connected to protect huge areas. Landlords will also love the ability to connect a hippoSECURE unit to a hippoRENT rental box, not only allowing tenants access, but, if you wish, allowing them to control any security functions you choose — such as managing their own white list.

New version of hippoUPDATE Automatic Product Update System

Hippo Technologies is pleased to announce the release of a new version of our popular product update system. hippoUPDATE allows you to automatically send updated versions of your products to your customers, using an easy to manage server and a simple script inserted into each product that you sell.

The latest version released today adds dual-communication methods between product and server, making updates more reliable when Second Life is running slowly and better integration between the server and the hippoUPDATE website — you can now:

• Manage and delete servers online
• Send product updates or redeliveries manually via any web browser
• View logs of who got what update and when

These features are available as a free upgrade for all existing users of hippoUPDATE and are built into any new purchases of the system from today. We have also made the user guide available online as well as inworld, making it easier to search, browse or print than the Second Life notecard.

Hippo Technologies launches hippoVEND Web-Enabled Networked Vending System

hippoVEND packs an extensive set of other features: robust, multi-layered networking technology to ensure customers get products delivered even when Second Life is running slowly; "keyless" servers, which means you can take them into inventory and re-rez them without breaking your network; a wide choice of vendor designs; full sales logging and reporting, including via CSV; support for backup servers in case your main sim goes down. On top of which, servers and vendors can be customised in a wide range of ways.

The icing on the cake is that hippoVEND retails for half of what some other vendor systems sell for in Second Life. As always, Hippo Technologies believe that Second Life businesses deserve first class business tools at sensible prices.
